FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Axis Precision Health, how care works, and what to expect.

About the Practice
Who is Axis Precision Health for?

Women in their late 30s through 60s experiencing symptoms related to perimenopause or menopause — including changes in energy, weight, sleep, mood, or cycle — who want a physician-led evaluation rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

How is this different from other online hormone clinics?

Axis Precision Health is physician-led. Every patient is evaluated and managed by Dr. Caravelli — a board-certified physician and Menopause Society Certified Practitioner. Care is not templated or delegated. Visits are longer, lab evaluation is more thorough, and treatment decisions are made with direct physician judgment.

Do you prescribe hormone therapy?

Yes. Hormone therapy is evaluated and prescribed when clinically appropriate. Dr. Caravelli follows evidence-based guidelines and reviews each patient’s history, symptoms, and lab results before making any prescribing decisions.

Do I still need a primary care doctor?

Yes. Axis Precision Health focuses specifically on hormone health, metabolic function, and midlife medicine. It does not replace your primary care physician, and does not provide urgent care, acute illness management, or routine preventive services.

Insurance & Pricing
Do you take insurance?

No. Axis Precision Health is a cash-pay practice. Laboratory testing is billed separately. Current pricing is listed on the Membership page. A superbill can be provided upon request. A superbill is an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurance or FSA for possible reimbursement, or use to reimburse yourself from an HSA. Reimbursement is determined by your plan. Axis Precision Health is unable to see Medicare patients.

Lab Testing & Treatment
Do you order labs?

Yes. The Axis Precision Health Core Panel is ordered when clinically appropriate and billed separately. Additional testing is only ordered when clinically indicated. The full panel is listed on the Core Panel page.

How is lab testing billed?

Labs can be billed to your insurance, or run at a pre-negotiated cash rate. If you choose the cash rate, you will know the exact price before anything is ordered. What insurance covers depends on your plan and deductible.

What happens after my first visit?

Dr. Caravelli reviews your labs and medical history, then develops a personalized care plan. Monthly membership begins after your New Patient Experience and includes quarterly 30-minute visits, unlimited check-ins as clinically appropriate, ongoing prescription management, and direct physician access. Membership is required to continue care.

I haven’t been formally diagnosed with perimenopause. Can I still be seen?

Yes. A formal diagnosis is not required. If you are experiencing symptoms that feel hormonal, that is sufficient reason to be evaluated. Dr. Caravelli will assess your symptoms and lab results together.

Logistics
What states do you see patients in?

Illinois only. All visits are conducted via telehealth. Patients must be located in Illinois at the time of their appointments.

How do I get started?

The first step is a complimentary 15-minute discovery call with Dr. Caravelli to discuss your concerns and confirm fit. This call is not a medical visit and no medical advice is provided. From there, you can schedule your New Patient Experience.

Axis Precision Health does not replace a patient's primary care physician. The practice focuses specifically on midlife hormone health, metabolic optimization, and longevity and preventive health strategy. Axis Precision Health does not provide primary care services, urgent care, or management of unrelated chronic medical conditions. Patients should maintain an ongoing relationship with their primary care physician for routine medical care, acute medical needs, and long-term disease management.
